Two Dollars, Seven Hours and a Second Turn
People ask why the tart bag is $9 when the sweetened one is $7, and the honest answer is the trays. The sweetened berries take 19 hours. The tart ones take 26, they lose more weight on the way, so a bag of tart starts as more fresh fruit, and I have to turn them twice instead of once or they stick to the mesh. I started making them for Pete's mother, who took her oatmeal plain and said sweetened berries were candy and she would not be bribed. She was right about the oatmeal. Now a woman in Plover buys six bags of the tart every November and puts them in the freezer, and I have stopped arguing with myself about the price, though I still turn every tray by hand and still think about Pete's mother when I do it, which is probably more than she would have wanted.
Both kinds come in the 8 oz bag. The sweetened berries also come in a 2 lb bag for bakers, at $22.

02 Shipping and pickupMondays and Wednesdays by mail, Thursdays by truck
Dried Berries Travel. The Rest Comes by Truck.
Dried berries ship anywhere in the lower 48 states for $9 flat, free on orders over $60. The smallest shipped order is $25. Orders go out on Mondays and Wednesdays and arrive in 3 to 5 days.
Juice in glass and fresh fruit do not travel well, so they are pickup at the barn or Thursday delivery only. The truck covers 25 miles from Wisconsin Rapids, free over $40 and $6 otherwise. Marshfield sits about eight miles past the line, so ask and we will see what we can do. Pickups run on the barn shop hours.

Fresh boxes can be reserved from September 1. A 25 lb box takes a $20 deposit, and the balance is paid when you pick it up. A 10 lb box needs no deposit. Once we tell you your box is ready, we hold it for 7 days.
If frost takes the crop, the deposit comes back in full. It has happened once, and you can read about how a frost night goes on the marsh page. Fresh berries keep about 4 weeks in the fridge and a year in the freezer, unwashed, in the bag they came in.
